Basic car knowledge

Buying used cars is considered an adventure by car enthusiasts because it’s like a new slate except the slate has been used before. The possibilities of being able to convert a used car into something enviable and with a high resale value is what makes enthusiasts keep going after used cars with potential.

There are two ways to work with used cars: one is to drive them and the other is to use them and then sell them as parts. However, before you can do this profitably, you have to have at least the basic car knowledge.
Here is some basic car knowledge information you should have before getting the wheel of any vehicle:
  • A car depreciates every year and so your insurance cost goes down if no claims have been
  • However, most experts would recommend that if you are planning to buy a new car, wait for the mid-cycle cough to pass. This refers to kinks in the model that usually come out with the first version and is solved by the automaker in the succeeding generations
  • If you are buying a used car, a lot of factors come into play like brand, model, year, make, condition, features, added options, seller, including who the driver was prior to being put on the market
  • If you are particular about where your car comes from, make sure to get the full history. Generally speaking, women drivers are more careful drivers so if the first and last owner of the used car you are thinking of buying was a woman, then your chances of getting something well maintained aesthetically is higher. On the other hand, men tend to take care of the engine more than women
  • No matter that the used car you bought passed through inspection of your mechanic, make sure you have a complete set of tools in your trunk just in case it breaks down. Also, do check availability of spare parts in your area and keep the phone number in a  convenient place

Finally, after buying the used car, bring it in for a diagnostic and have a complete check done from top to bottom and hood to trunk.
