Is Honda Civic The Best Car in History?

The Honda Civic from Japan could very well be the most popular Japanese car that’s personally hand-picked by most consumers as their first choice. Based on the following criteria: design, technology, execution the Honda Civic from Japan simply surpasses all expectations. Does it qualify as the best car in history? That would really depend on what you would consider as the ideal car.

For some people, speed is the deciding factor and while the Honda Civic can reach high speeds, it can’t be likened to a race car or a street car designed for speed. On the other hand, if you will be happy with a fast car without modifications that looks very decent and respectable, you will be extremely happy owning a Civic.

Experts have come up with lists of top cars in history based on criteria such as reliability. One such company of experts is Warranty Direct. This is a UK company that rates car warranty and other consumer products and services. Their list of top cars based on reliability has mostly Japanese cars in the top 10. Honda Accord takes the top spot and the Honda Civic in 6th place.

Considering that these cars are up against British, America, European, and other Asian brands, that’s a pretty incredible showing. The highest non-Japanese car model is the Jaguar X-Type in 13th place and the Volvo S/V40 in 15th place.

Naturally, this company put a high premium on a car being able to work properly over time. Their readers are mainly buyers of used cars so it makes sense for them to select putting out reliability listings.

Not everyone thinks reliability is the most important factor in choosing the best car. If you ask kids, their choice would be based on appearance, color, and design. Engineers would consider what’s under the hood as more significant while mothers the world over just want a car that won’t break down or burn fuel quickly.

The Honda Civic may not be the best in history but it will rank high based on all these factors put together. As an officer of Warranty Direct, Duncan Fisher says, “Japanese models may not be the most charismatic, but you’re unlikely to spend a great deal of money and time in the garage keeping it on the road.”
