How to Be Eco-friendly with Your Car

The best way to be eco-friendly if you plan to buy Japanese used car is to make sure the car is in good condition. You will need to have a mechanic go over the engine and test drive it for you. If you buy Japanese used car from a reputable dealer or from a personal contact, you have a better chance of not getting duped with a lemon. Once you have your new used car, there are other ways that you can contribute to making our world a safer place to live in.
Buy Japanese used car
  • If it isn’t hot or humid, then don’t use the air-conditioning. You should be able to keep the windows down if you are on safe city streets and around your neighborhood. You will have to close your windows if you are going on the freeway or on fast highways. The open window will cause you to burn more fuel which is a bigger concern than not using the air-conditioning
  • Try to make it a habit not to brake abruptly. The more often you do this, the more likely you will burn fuel. Logically, it then means that you cannot shift to high speeds then drop to a lower speed within seconds. This is not only dangerous, it is also environmentally unfriendly
  • Install a GPS so you don’t waste fuel. This is imperative if you tend to drive to new places often
  • Unload unnecessary weight. Whatever is weighing down your car like boxes in your trunk or junk in the back seat can cause your car to burn more fuel. The added energy needed to propel the car forward at the speed you want is going to cost you more in terms of fuel consumption
  • You could also consider keeping a log of your car maintenance. This way you can keep tabs on when it has to go on for a check-up. If you maintain your car, then you won’t be needed to replace parts as often or spend on repairs

New cars may be more eco-friendly than a used car, but at the steep prices it’s not always feasible. If so, turn to known fuel-efficient cars instead of used gas guzzlers.
